iPhone Screenshot Goodness

Thanks to Matt, I can now take iPhone screenshots to my heart’s content. So I’ve updated the set showcased on this site and made a zip archive of 18 screenshots available on the same page.

“Go…” Button: primary navigation Dashboard: admin home screen Latest activity: links, comment, etc Manage: edit posts, pages and categories

All the screens in the packaged set are from version 1.4.2. Some will be bundled with the next release and they are also available on the new WPhone page on Facebook.

    Thanks.

The WPhone plugin is working great on my iPhone! There haven’t been any noticeable bugs since the update. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks Trevor and Matt.

@Trevor: sorry to get back to you so late, but we seemed to have miss your comment before.

Taking screenshots requires a jailbroken iPhone or iPod, since Apple doesn;t have a bundled app for that.

    See http://www.tuaw.com/tag/Jailbreak/ for more info

One important feature that is missing on the iPhone that is standard
on ordinary cellphones is memo recording… one of my most used
cellphone features, so I hope Apple will quickly correct this deficiency.

I went to the tuaw.com website but the application is no longer available for download.

Can you help me out? - ajtwins@gmail.com

    Thanks!

@Daniel: the following link has a lot of good info: http://www.iamiphone.ca/howtoguides.html

Once you’re jailbroken and have AppTapp (the installer and package manager) you’ll get all the software you could wish for. :)

I’d rather not have to do that, but it’s pretty much the only choice I have as a non-US resident interested in developing for the iPhone. Yes, I could have gone the iPod Touch way, but the phone part holds too much value for me to pass on.

Hopefully someone is working on a version of this under the SDK. Any word on that?

  10. Norman April 22, 2008

    does this work under 2.5?

  11. Doug April 22, 2008

    Norman:
It does (mostly). There are a few things that we need to fix up — comment editing seems a bit wonky, to be honest.

We’ve a development release that has been sitting untouched for a bit due to Real Life concerns on Viper, Steph and my parts. We’re looking to release it anew sometime very soon.

Thanks for the great plugin! I’ve been looking for a way to make some simple posts from my iphone and this is slick! Appreciate the work.
curious to see what 2.0 will bring us as far as a WordPress app but I can see me hanging on to yours a good while! Thanks again!

Thanks! Its a sueprb plugin! I have being using it with my iphone to test websites. For example I’ll browse one of my sites with the iPhone and take screens of where things dont look right.

Then use the screenshots as a reference point when im sat back with dreamweaver

Great plugin, with a couple of problems.

Once editing a post your can’t scroll through the post text box on iPhone (3g), trying to scroll with the fingure simply scrolls the whole page. i couldn’t see how to get inside the text area.

Also, I noticed it was dropping the post Title a lot when going to preview or saving sometimes.

As for iPhone Screenshots: Just hold down the home button and click the sleep button on the top. The screen flashes and adds the shot to your camera roll!

great plugin! thanks for the info.

however with the the new 2.0 software, you could just hold the power and home buttons down together and it’ll take a snapshot automatically. google it or check this site out:

and for those mischievous people out there, according to the author, once taking an image of a friend’s homepage on his iphone, hand the iphone back to him. he’ll think it’s hung or something like that. one of those cheap thrills.
