…To The Bat Signal!
A cry for help rises up into the wintry sky! Who will answer the call?
*Ahem* Apologies for the melodramatics.
There comes a time in every open source project when the core developers must solicit help from the community, and now is one of those times. Stephane, Viper and I have had precious little time to work on WPhone as of late and it shows. We’re not properly using nonces and a whole host of nifty features that were added post-2.5 are simply not working and we haven’t been able to add support for them in the plugin.
So here’s where you come in. We need a few willing and able-bodied coders to expand the team. We’ll add you to the WordPress.org hosting setup so that you will have SVN commit access and I will set you up with posting access here on the blog.
What do we need? Well, at the very least:
- Bring WPhone up-to-date so that it works with WordPress 2.9
- Officially support Android and Palm handsets (which oughtn’t be too big of an issue — they run a version of WebKit similar to the iPhone’s)
- Upgrade the JavaScript back-end of the plugin (perhaps with jQTouch or similar…)
So, if you’re interested, simply send an email to batsignal@wphoneplugin.org. Include links to other projects you’ve worked on, if applicable. Once we’ve gotten enough volunteers, I will update the site with further information and plans.
Thanks!

Generate a more complete statement of work and I may help conditional on complete HTML5 WebOS support. At a minimum I would provide WebOS test platform aside from emulator. I also have occasional access to a Droid.
